NOT FUCKING LEON.
His given name is Squall, yes. But after the Heartless took over Radiant Garden he called himself Leon to cast away his old self, who could do nothing to protect his world and the people he loved. If you've played KH, you'd know this. Or maybe you have and you're just in denial. You might as well bitch about the fact that Yuna's name is written, in Japanese characters, as 'Yuna', while it is pronounced as 'Yuuna'.
Now you have yourself a lovely day.
I'm actually sort of a fan of KH (I'm planning on cosplaying the Organization XIII) It has good gameplay, and deep in my mind I'm a sucker for crossovers.
However, my beef with KH is that for many gamers of a later generation, KH was the first time that they'd seen versions of most of the Final Fantasy characters.
Many people I see on this site only know about Leon from Kingdom Hearts, and not the original (real) Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII.
They would benefit greatly from bustin' out the SNES and the PS1 and KICKIN' IT OLD-SCHOOL.
They changed his character too much. And frankly, I don't like the way he's portrayed in KH. A real jerkass who's always freakin' emo and brooding. The whole sheeding the identity of his former self thing is just plain emo.
And that's not the real Squall.
I also don't like Leon's hair, or his jacket. Short sleeves ruins the whole point.
And I always pronounced Yuna's name with a long 'u'. I'm not a weeaboo.
Also, these characters are NOT GAY.
They do not enjoy it in the ass.
And about the thing with people seeing FF characters for the first time; that would kind have been the point of putting them there, I should say. For both FF-fans to see some memorable characters again and for new people so they be introduced to these characters and therefore encouraged to play older FF's like 7 and 8.

Also, there is never explicitely stated that these characters are entirely straight. True, Squall was in a relationship with Rinoa, but it is never mentioned he isn't also attracted to men. And though Cloud did display interest towards Tifa and Aerith, he never was in a relationship with them. They might as well have been friends or sibling-figures to each other, just like, say, Zack and Cloud.
Not to mention that if done properly, any man would enjoy it up the ass, but that's another issue altogether.
Lastly; don't like, don't look. Problem solved.
I prefer calling him Squall, too. I never decided he wants to be called 'Leon' in Kingdom Hearts because of this or that reason.
And because this pairing is between the Cloud en Squall from Kingdom Hearts, it is between Cloud and Leon.
You shouldn't take this too seriously, really. There are too many people to get mad at if you're going to yell at everybody who calls Squall 'Leon'. You know you can use your time better than that.
Other then that, I think it's pretty immature to just attack someone you don't know. Because, as you can see, I am pretty aware that his name is Squall and not 'fucking Leon'. (Cloud loves fucking Leon
